Reversible Appley Jacket - Upcycled Bow tie patchwork quilt

£275.00

This Reversible Appley Jacket is made from a multi-coloured patchwork quilt and blue and white stripped cotton bias binding.

It is fully reversible, one side being the main patchwork which is the bowtie quilt pattern made in bright pastel coloured cotton and the background being a bright white.

The reverse side is the original backing of the patchwork quilt which is plain white cotton, but the seams are bound in the blue and white stripped bias tape which makes a clean yet decorative finish. I have used of the main side of the quilt for the pockets and collar just to add a bit of contrast. I have also hand sewn my Kc label to the outside of this side.

Both sides have pockets, of course, because who doesn’t love a pocket!

It’s an oversized fit and the sleeves can be turned up with a cuff. It could fit anyone from a size UK6 to a UK14 depending on how much ease you like.

It’s 27” pit to pit or 54” circumference at the chest.

The sleeves are about 18” long from armpit to cuff or 34” from the top of the collar to the cuff.

The length of the jacket is 27” from the top of the collar to the hem.

The collar is designed to be worn turned up, which gives your neck added protection from the elements.

This quilt isn’t heavily padded so it’s a good transitional jacket for spring/autumn and for cooler summer evenings. Or layer up underneath it for winter.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GARMENT

This jacket can be washed in a washing machine on a regular cold wash cycle or 30 degrees. But I would spot clean and handwash as much as possible to avoid unnecessary wear to the patchwork. Air dry only.

The quilts I upcycle can be up to 80 years old and some are handstitched and quite delicate. But the beauty of patchwork is that it can be repaired by replacing the small patches of fabric over time.
