Reversible Appley Jacket - Upcycled grandmother's garden patchwork quilt

£275.00

This Reversible Appley Jacket is an oversized jacket made from a multicoloured patchwork quilt with blue and white bias binding which I made out of a cotton duvet cover.

It is fully reversible, one side being the main patchwork which is the grandmother’s garden quilt pattern made in multi colours with a gorgeous yellow background and a baby blue stripe running along the lower half.

The reverse side is the original backing of the patchwork quilt which is a striking salmon pink cotton, but the seams are also bound in the blue and white stripped bias biding which makes a clean yet decorative finish. I have used of the main side of the quilt for the pockets just to add a bit of contrast. I have also hand sewn my Kc label to the outside of this side.

Both sides have pocket, of course, because I LOVE a pocket!

It’s an oversized fit and the sleeves can be turned up with a cuff. It could fit anyone from a size UK6 to a UK14 depending on how much ease you like.

It’s 27” pit to pit or 54” circumference at the chest.

The sleeves are 18” from the armpit to the cuff.

This is a midi length jacket which is 31” from the top of the collar to the hem.

The collar is designed to be worn turned up, which gives your neck added protection from the elements.

This quilt has a light/medium weight wadding so it make a super cosy addition to your transitional wardrobe for spring/autumn and for cooler summer evenings. Or you can layer up underneath it for added warmth in winter.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GARMENT

This jacket can be washed in a washing machine on a regular cold cycle ofr30 degrees. But I would spot clean and hand wash as much as possible to avoid unnecessary wear to the patchwork. Air dry only. Iron on cotton setting.

The quilts I upcycle can be up to 80 years’ old and some are handstitched and quite delicate. But the beauty of patchwork is that it can be repaired by replacing the small patches of fabric over time.
